New Website for Artwaves 2019

Website Launch and First ArtWaves Workshops Unveiled

ArtWaves is proud to be unveiling a brand new website,, packed with exciting announcements as the first stage release of the 2019 festival being held on 22 and 23 June 2019, with the ArtWaves Fringe taking place 17 - 20 June.

The first bookable workshops are now on sale for the fifth year returning visual arts festival with more set to complete the festival line up in the coming months and the full programme due for release in February 2019.

Workshops will span the week fringe of ArtWaves and across the festival weekend, bringing the return of festival favourites and new additions to the bill of artists.

Renowned artist Charles Evans will be returning over the festival weekend with a relaxed step by step watercolour workshop, alongside Catherine Inglis, Carol Davidson, John Harrison and sell out artist Robert Dutton.

The 2019 event will also include a host of new artists including the highly acclaimed Sky Landscape Artist of the Year 2016 - 17, Richard Allan who will be running a bookable workshop alongside a Main Stage demonstration for attendees.

Festival Director, Lauren Frost said, 'I am thrilled to be bringing such a strong bill of artist workshops to the festival for 2019, with even more on the way. The overall programme has been tailored to the vast demographic ArtWaves attracts and I cannot wait to share this early next year!'

All workshops are limited capacity and are anticipated to once again sell out, attendees are encouraged to buy tickets early to avoid disappointment.

Councillor Richard Burton, Portfolio Holder for Leisure, Tourism and Culture said, "ArtWaves is building and defining itself as a key event within the arts calendar and as such we are able to bring some fantastic opportunities and artists to the East Coast for visitors and residents. The programme for this year will be stronger than ever and represent the diverse range of mediums that is visual art."

The bookable workshops form a part of a much larger festival and with the new website launch ArtWaves is happy to announce further opportunities now open. The annual Open Exhibition is now live and open for entries alongside the return of the popular Submerge strand.

Submerge is aimed at young, new and emerging artists looking to create and display artwork on a public platform. ArtWaves is on the hunt for artists to pitch their ideas for installation based pieces and is committed to supporting artists through all the elements of concept to creation.

The festival is looking to commission 5 pieces for the 2019 event for a commission fee of £500 - £1000 per artwork. These will be displayed at Bridlington Spa as part of the main festival weekend before being exhibited at Beverley Art Gallery post event.
